WANT TO HEAR  MORE?

Long before Noel Rigby commenced writing ‘THE KNOCKER’ he had decided to use the pen name Jack Rigby in commemoration of his late father whose sad loss gave him the determination to finish the novel.

Born in Bury, Lancashire, to an engineer and a homemaker, it was clear that Noel Rigby was blessed with an above average sporting talent and as a child dreamed of becoming a professional footballer. However, his dreams were shattered when he was struck down with a chronic bone disease and was told that his left leg would have to be amputated. He refused to accept the doctors’ decision and for the next four years spent his time in and out of hospital fighting the illness. During that period he cannot help but remember the kindness of many people but particularly David Brady and Danny Boyle.

Today he still has two good legs but unfortunately, one of them was never quite strong enough to go on and make a living out of professional football. Consequently, he spent many years in the oil and gas industry working in many different countries. Having time to kill waiting in airports and at nights away from his family he often wrote short stories to while away the hours.

Noel Rigby now lives in Australia but describes himself as a ping pong pom (not of the whinging variety) travelling frequently back and forth to the UK.  As such, he still finds himself thinking up new stories while waiting in airports.

'THE KNOCKER' . . . the author hopes each and every reader will enjoy  the story.
